Default White Trash needs your help

Ok so everythings going good on my 93 ta then I decide to tackle the brake lights. This is where it gets interesting. If you hit the brakes all three light up the left and right are very dim, Then you turn on the lights and all the rear lights go out or stay very dim VERY DIM. So I figured ground bulbs switch somthing simple.....none I rewired the rear ground cecked and replaced all the bulbs changed the switch.....nothin same issue.
A couple of other things when the key isnt in the ignition and you hit the brakes the key chime sounds.....It dosnt do it with the key on but ive never had another car that did this.
and withe the brake lights on but dim the tag light is on but very dim....thats with the lights off?

I checked voltage at the bulbs and its a crap shoot sometimes 11.4 and then 3.8.

Im really at my wits end on this one so if anyone can help PLEASE

Sounds like maybe the sockets are corroded and need replacing. Seems like I had a similar problem a number of years ago and this fixed it. You can get Calterm replacements very cheap and just splice them into your previous sockets' wiring.

Not that it really matters with wiring, but if you're 01, you're in the wrong part of the forum anyways. You should be in the LS1 section, not the LT1.

I believe that is just the electrical compound they put in factory. And the age is what made it chunky. It may have started out a different color and oxidation made it that peanut butter color. I know exactly what you're talking about though.

Yeah I think it's some sort of dielectric compound. It's kinda nasty if you get it on your hands. LOL.

Seriously, buy one Calterm socket for like $4 and see if that fixes it. It sounds just like my deal a few years ago.

I had the same problem with my 94 Z28, turned out that there was some grease inside the socket and was causing the connection to mess up. I cleaned it out really good and that fixed the problem. Hope this helps.

Did you check the main connector to the rear wiring harness? Its on the drivers side in the rear.

Yeah it was something my dad suggested and I didn't see how it would fix it either but it did.
