What are the most common coolant leak spots?
Recently my coolant has started to drop exponentially it seems. I can see my temp gauge shooting low-high-low when I take turns and stuff, especially before my thermostat opens it seems. I do not see any major puddles in my garage. I have 110k miles, it looks like an original water pump, but I have not seen any coolant come from the water pump. I have done some searching and it seems the gaskets can be a problem? I do not think I am burning any, I don't smell any coolant in the exhaust.
What are the most common coolant leaks in these motors? Considering a 110k LT1.
I use cheap 50/50 coolant. I'll probably flush and fill with Dex-Cool next week or so.

Cheap coolant shouldn't make any difference. Should cool just fine. Just find the leak. Be very careful with Dex Cool cuz mixing any of it with the green stuff causes mass contamination.

Ok, Yeah its definitely the water pump. It leaks pretty bad now. Gonna pick one up SOON. I think its either the passenger side gasket, a hose, or the weap hole. It's flinging coolant all over my engine bay. I'm gonna jack it up tonight and see where it is coming from exactly,.

you are correct.
i would replace it with an electric waterpump because its just going to keep spitting coolant out as soon as the slightest tear occurs in any of the seals inside the housing.

Actually, I think I found my problem. I don't see anything coming from the weap hole. I found a hose that seems to be busted. It looks like it is a significant amount of leaking.
Included pics of the hose, and the water pump weap hole. I see no signs of leaking on the pump. Does this hose have coolant entering or exiting the water pump, and what does it directly connect to? I could not find it. I obviously need to replace this hose, but I don't know exactly what kind of hose to ask for. Maybe a part number?

That hose you have pic'd first actually got a pinhole sized leak on me a while back and would jet coolant all over. I just cut it and placed an piece of tubing in the hose and clamped it to fix it. These cars can be buggers sometimes. Hope you got it worked out. It also gave me an excuse to do the throttle body bypass lol.

TB Bypass has already been done on this car too. I'd like to replace the entire hose, because i had to fix a bad crimp in it one day, possibly causing this leak in the long run..

Mine went bad as well. I was trying to find a coolant leak as well and I saw it dripping from that peice. As soon as I started touching it, it broke in half! It is the flow restrictor for the heater core. I just cut mine out and spliced in a peice of hose. You *MIGHT* not get as hot of heat without it, or you *MIGHT* have premature heater core failure, but I read around and those seem to be small risks.
EDIT: Just realized that all the hose replacement kits don't even have this part so you will be good to just cut that part out and splice the hoses together.

Hm, If I could get a part number and order the correct hose I would rather than rigging something. But i guess I'll go ahead and get a hose barb coupler today.. Thanks!

when the heater core leaks does it usually drip by the firewall or inside the car? i know some cars have a catch pan that will drain it outside the car so you never get a wet carpet. my gtu beretta did. mines dripping near the firewall
