Default open header question

I didn't have chance to put my new exhaust on last week and I drove the car to work friday and some saturday open....I live in the country and work is 10 minutes away so I wasn't worried about getting pulled over and if anything them damn deer were too scared to jump out in front of me at 5AM....well I was just wondering if that could screw sensors or anything up running open like that?

No should be fine. Take your y pipe with you and if a cop stops you try to explain to them whats up. I got pulled over on my way to the shop with open LT headers. I told them I had to take my motor out and whatnot and I had to disconnect the exhaust to do it. Showed him the pipes in the back and he said "alright but get straight to the shop and have this fixed".

O2 sensors will give improper readings while the exhaust is open if it is open too close too them but that is about it, no longterm issues to them though.

Ive been runnin open headers for a while now. Ive goten pulled over since but not for the noise. Usually the officer tells me "badass car, sounds great and slow down". Use good judgement and put it in a higher gear, be courteous to your neighbors. Plus the smell of gas on your clothes and the sound of open headers will get you more trim than Ron Jeremy.

I ran open headers for 8 months on the red car :-). DD too. + 1 on the gas smell though. On long drives you may experience dizzyness and light-headedness too..... :-).

i was thinking about running open headers for a minute, but damn, its loud. So instead, i just hung flowmaster delta series mufflers from the headers, and it toned it down abit, but still loud as all getout at WOT

Umm, yea you might consider getting at least some covering for the O2 sensors b/c the open air that can come into the collector can throw off the readings and cause you to go either really rich or really lean and that could foul them out.
