Default coil is firing but car wont start?!

i have a friend whos coil is getting spark but his car wont start up.. he was thinking that his opti had gone bad because the car had been sitting for a while without being ran.. this is after a motor build. im trying to see if the opti is bad or is it something else. does anyone know a way to test this somehow or anything to check? this guy has a pretty bad *** lt1 (in theory with what he has put together) that we would love to see how it really performs through his six speed. any help would be GREATLY appreciated..

If your getting spark from the coil and not the optispark and the theres your problem. The opti gets its spark from the coil and then fires the plugs. I would look into changing the opti.
