I would assume that it would vary depending on the timing cover model. So no, I wouldn't think that would deem it an LT1 vs an L99, but I could EASILY be wrong since I'm just speculating.

Well, unless things have changed, the back driver-side corner on the bell housing area, is the best place to get your block identification. I vaguely remember "327" being the 350 block, as odd as that is. Why they can't make life simple, I don't know. I don't see the pain in stamping in L99, LT1 or LT4 :\

I just thought it was kind of odd being a 350 block and all... Like formula said it seems like it would make more sense to label it 350 at least, or even l99 lt1 ect..
