Default "Transmission Perform" enable question

For any of you guys/gals out there with a 1994-95 Formula TA with 4L60 A4 trannny. I am working on enabling (switch/LED/programing) the "Transmission Perform" feature button on my 1994 Camaro Z28. I plan on reprogramming the PCM performance mode tables in the PCM for shift points and stiffer shifting. Without a TA available nor a TA users manual I have a rather basic question. I assume the transmission has to be in 4th (OD) to enable performance mode and turn on the indicator ? Is this correct ? .. Thanks Bob D.

From what i understand it is just like the tow/haul mode on newer chevy trucks. It just offers another set of trans shifting tables and shift points, and can be enabled at any time.My car had the same feature except now i got th-350 so i dont use it anymore.

The perform button allows you to choose another setting of transmission shift points and fimness. Which is set by the factory in the computer. My Formula has this button and Yes it does make a big difference in the way my car drives. I had a friend tune my car for everyday driving on regular mode and when I hit the button he programmed it to shift completely different. I'll be honest my car will snap your neck when shifting now that he tuned it.
But to answer your question you can be in any gear and use this button. It will change the way it shifts at any speed/gear.
