quick question about starting

is it ok to start the engine without the transmission in. i think it would be but i just want to make sure, i just swapped injectors and got the computer tuned and want to see how it is running real quick

I do it all the time. You might set some codes if it's an A4 car, that's all I can think of.

It's Ok to run it for a very breif time. Just don't let run for long.

One thing MAKE DAM SURE YOU HAVE OIL IN IT. No coolant is ok for a short period.
