Forged Pistons for LT1
I am going to be boring my LT1 block .030 over and want to put a set of forged pistons in it. My question is I was going to use the TRW forged pistons, I find the regular hypereuratic ones on summit, but the forged ones I find say Gen 1 block and not Gen 2, are these the same when you used forged pistons, or is it a misprint. Or by any chance does someone know the correct part number?? thanks for any help.

I don't know if Summit sells the pistons individually, but I've ordered the complete rebuild kit through Summit here.

yeah, I saw that, but if you go to the kit contents tab and click on the pistons, it pulls them up, but then says they are for a Gen 1 engine... I think maybe this is a misprint????

The closest forged pistons to the factory ring pack are made by Mahle (that is the origional manufacture of the GM pistons). You will need to have the wrist pin on the factory rods floated instead of press fit wrist pins. This part number is for a 5.7" rod (aka factory rod length) http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku . This part number is for a aftermarket 6.00" rod http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku . Remeber that these piston sets come with a matching set of plasma moly file fit piston rings as well.

You don't think I will have any problems with the rings on the TRW ones do you??? it looks like the only rings they are missing are the two small rings around the oil control ring????

You shouldn't have any problems with the pistons. You can buy just the oil control rings by themselves if that is all you need. You can contact any ring manufacture and tell them what you need.
