Limp Mode What Is It?
Some ask me if my car had limp mode I don't know what that is but I remember that some one said that if it were on limp mode that fans be running even if the motor was cold. Now that I remember the fans are always running even when you first start it up on my 97 Camaro SS could that be the reason my car stumbles after a hard drive??????????

Limp home is a mode that the computer goes into when something is wrong. It overides the normal function of the computer. You might have better luck with this in the PCM electrical section. Do you have a SES light on?

The fans will run constantly when the car has an Service Engine Soon light. Limp mode is for various SES codes (not sure which ones though), I believe it takes out timing of the motor and increases fuel to prevent detonation or possible damage to the motor.

Your car has Limp Mode, and every GM car with a computer, to my knowledge, has it. You also will KNOW when it's in Limp Mode, you barely will be able to drive. If you had a 93, I'd say remove your chip and then you'll see what it's like. It'll barely rev up, pop a bit and stutter, and mine, won't shift out of 1st, or it'll be very difficult for the car to shift. I don't know how 94+ is, but that's how it is for pre-93. Or at least, my 91 TPI and my 93 were the exact same.
They call it Limp Mode for that reason, you are literally limping home. Imagine you w/ 1 leg and that's how your car feels
