Default 24lb injectors on 93 LT1?

Hey I have a 1993 LT1 fbody (speed density) and my injectors are going bad.. I think the stock 93' injectors are 22lbs (correct me if im wrong).. i cant realy find them anywhere but accel has a set of 24lb injectors for a good price.. would those injectors work for my car? meaning, being that my car doesnt have a MAF, would it be able to adjust to the extra 2lb injectors without me having to dyno tune it? thanks for any input

You'd probably need to get your chip burned to compensate for the different sized injectors. Try PM'ing a tuner like PCM's for less or MadZ28. They will be able to tell you for sure.

If you are running performance upgrades that give you more power than stock, you may want a bigger injector anyways. If you want a killer deal on some 30# SVO injectors I have a set I am selling at a good price.

I put my 24# SVOs on before a tune, which is like 25.5# on GM fuel PSI. I noticed a nice difference in throttle response.

You won't need to change your programming.

And yes, stock on a 93 is 22#

You *should* change the programming, because your fueling will be off, but with a difference that small, you may be able to get away with it as long as your o2 sensors are working correctly and that is within their range of adjustment.

thanks for the replies.. im hoping its just a wiring issue with the o2 sensor.. but if it is the injectors, i might as well give it a try.. i dont think itll be TOO bad.. its just 2lbs more ya know? MAP and o2's are brand new so once i get it figured out they should be able to do their job and take care of it.. i hope.. should i get the accels or is there anything else for a decent price?

Accels suck. Go with the top notch brands like SVO, or Mototron.

If you only way 24lbs, just buy a used a set for a 94+. They are easy to find and cheap and will work fine. I got a set from a freind when I was just heads/cam - 330 RWHP.

SVO Blue Tops are cheap. I got mine with like 30K miles for around $45/.

SVOs are rated at 39psi so on an LT1 they act bigger, like 25.3lbs.

The speed density system does not learn like the MAF ones do, this would be a BAD idea.

No need for a dyno tune, a mailorder chip should do just fine and like someone said 24lbs stockers are cheap and easy to find.

I already explained the # difference, but why would it be bad to run them on a SD motor?

Without a tune that is too big a differenced.

The later setups can only adjust fuel like 10%, 22 too 25.3 is like 15%

I ran 24 lb injectors on my 93 with speed density and experienced no problems. Although i did swap them out for 30lb svo injectors on a 383 with stock heads and a bigger cam anf it ran pig rich without a tune (literally would not stay running) but you should be fine with 24lb injectors. if you decide on any future mods i would agree with upgrading to a bigger injector anyways and just get a tune later down the road.

i did this when my car was stock (93s to a stock set of 94s). you will not have to get it tuned at all. it should run fine.

they were wrong then. lol

These cars are old enough that a lot of GM reps don't even know what they are talking about anymore when it comes to them.
