non vented to vented opti???
1) A pre-'95 (type-1, spline-drive) version, and
2) a post '95 (type-2, dowel-driven) version.
-Both versions are vented.
You can run the type designed for your 1994, but you should at least consider converting to the 1995 setup. Converting allows you to run beefier timing sets (double-rollers, etc.), which is otherwise a problem for 1994 model years with the cam-gear spline-drive crap. [Edit -- I should clarify that a 1995+ timing set is required for any 1995+ optispark. The 1994 cam gear is incompatible, unless the center opening is machined.]
Keep in mind that the 1995+ camshafts not only had longer dowel pins, but also an enlarged snout opening to accept an elongated stabilizer shaft on the rear of the 1995+ optispark. I've been told that people have swapped without machining the snout opening, so take that with a grain of salt. However, the MSD comes with a permanently-sealed electrical harness, so you wouldn't have to worry about ordering the 1995 optispark electrical harness.
I run the 1995+ type MSD, paired with a coil conversion. FYI, mine didn't come with vacuum lines -- you'll have to check if the 1994 version supplies them or not. If not, be aware that you'll likely need another vacuum coupler, since the bottom "intake manifold side" vacuum port on the MSD was engineered larger than stock for some odd reason. Some photos here if interested.
