Default pushrods

i got some 1.6 rockers (cc promags) and lt4 valvesprings. now i am considering upgrading pushrods. i dont figure its necessary with such a mild setup, but i plan to one day (in the next 10 years) build up the motor so i figured it couldnt hurt to throw some in there now.

ive been lookin around and like the trick flow one peice chromemoly for $85.

anybody recomend anything else for that price range?

Nothing wrong with upgrading your pushrods, although probably not necessary with the LT-4 springs. I don't believe there was any diference between the LT-1 pushrods and the LT-4 pushrods. Although there is no guarantee that the upgraded pushrods you are considering now, will work in the motor you plan to build in the future due to different geometry of the valvetrain.

For $85 it isn't a bad idea to go ahead and upgrade, but like BoostedZ28 said it's probably not necessary especially if they are self aligning, and there is a fairly good chance they won't be the right length for a motor you build in the future either due to factors like deck height, heads being shaved, cam lift, small base circle, etc.

The Trick Flow ones are a good choice at $85 IMO. Same thing as $150 Comp Hi Techs.

yea i thought about the idea that they would be shorter if i milled the heads. well would the comp cams "hardened" pushrods be a better idea? they are only 40 and i wouldnt cry too much if i had to throw them away in the future

also, do you think i should be ok to rev to 6000 or 6100 with the springs and rockers?

i know i dont need to but just wondering

Hardened pushrods are more meant for using guide plates because of the rubbing. I don't think they are much stronger than stock. I know it is highly discouraged by a lot of cam guys to run hardened pushrods with high RPM and spring pressures, they all want you to run .080 wall one piece chromoly. I would stick with the stock ones or get the Trick Flows. You can always sell them later on down the line if they are not right for your new setup. You could probably get over half your money back.

As for the LT4 springs, can't help you there. I've never dealt with them and don't like to speak of something I know nothing about

The "factory" redline rpm on the LT-4 is 6300, so from the upgraded parts standpoint, you are safe.

true, but they also had lighter valves and aluminum rockers. dont know how much lighter or how much difference it makes but its something to consider. the main reason i would be going past 5800 is that i pluged my setup into a speed/gear calculator and in fourth gear with 4.10's i will top out at 103. so far the fastest ive gone is 100. but if i start getting faster, i might get above 103 and dont want to have to shift to 5th gear so i could just raise the limiter and ring it out a little longer. i doubt it would help from a power standpoint tho
