To do it RIGHT, there is alot involved. I did the opposite swap. 6 speed to A4 and did the wiring on BOTH cars involved in the swap.

To do it RIGHT you need to re wire the clutch switch VS the neutral safety switch, reverse lights have to be re-wired. Brake switch interlock to shifter.

Good luck.

Everybody is a smart ***, If you dont take the neutral safety switch wires (from the auto) and wire them into the clutch pedal switch (the new six speed), the car will start with the clutch out, possibly in gear...now THATS funny aint it?

^^I'm pretty familiar with a Standard..I only been driving one since I was about 10..

When I wired in my LSX..for some reason the Neutral Safety got bypassed, it will start in Gear. Granted a 3600 Stall barely lets the Car jump with the Brakes on..but it still starts in Gear.
I'm pretty sure it would do the same if it was a Standard..that is why I'd get into the habit of pushing the Clutch in or putting it in Neutral..and no one would drive my **** but me..

That's just me though..and thank you, I am a smartass..

Heres the part of my post you OBVIOUSLY missed..."TO DO IT RIGHT"

WHich is the way I do it, one mistake with **** "bypassed" you got a car running over someone, driving off the trailer, driving into a wall. All because someone was too lazy to take the time to DO IT RIGHT. And wished they had later, after the crash is over, only takes one time.

As you were.

^^**** happens anywhere..accidents happen wether it's done right or wrong..

I looked all over hell trying to figure out why the Switch won't work for what I have. I think it's something with the Transmissions between the 2..cause the N/S Switch is in 2 different places for the 1995 4L60E and for the 2005 Truck 4L60E that I have.

We could go back and forth all day about it, you can tell me I'm wrong for doin it that way, but it works and I'm smart enough to start the thing in Park or Neutral..the Brake Saftey switch still works to get it out of Park..that one is wired in the Chassis of the Car.

Right or wrong..it still works and moves without a problem..I'm happy with it. There is all kinds of custom **** in that car that probably shouldn't be there..
How bout we drop it..

Hey Merv and fastfatboy, you guys r funny . Anyway I second fastfatboy, if you're doing a SWAP then why would you be lazy to do that wire the RIGHT way, I've done it to a friend of mine, I did the whole swap for him and the clutch switch is one of the most important ones in my opinion, just do urself a favor and wire it, run the wires under the carpet all the way to where they belong under the consol and it's done, it's a 10 minutes job that you SAVE a lot of possible problems in the future. Do it and do it RIGHT. Let me know if u need any help, I've done three times already.

LOL.... I really dont think the neutral safety switch is that big of a deal. I mean our parents got along wthout it. I do see what you mean as far as doing it right though.

My truck doesn't have one since I swapped it. It's no big deal because it's usually just me that drives it and it's too big for little kids to just climb in and turn the key. I do agree that you should have one though.
