XFI is third party management system, correct?

If so, what is the cost, self installed, for a running system?

a friend of mine wired an MSD pro-billet distributor in to a stock '93 harness after a supposed "opti" problem cam about, and the truck wouldn't start. he had everything it needed to run, but found that the computer was junked out instead. so they converted to a mega-squirt instead.

my friend has also mention something about a 2000 model Chevy Express van computer? like an '094 serial number perhaps? it is the LSx style computer that can be flashed on the go, but has the adaptability to read any kind of reluctor signal for crank position:

it can read a 4-pulse crank sensor ('96-97 LT1) an 8-pulse magnetic pickup (TBI/TPI) the 4pulse crank/whatever pulse Vortec truck (the 2000 express vans cam with 5.7L vortec motors, and the 24x crank/2 pulse cam signal of an LS1.

the gears are turning in my head, thinking modified vortec cam sensor in the back, '96/97 front cover, and the afore mention computer, with LS1 coils.

Is an Opti that is just being used for signals still at water hazard? Or since the high voltage isn't being passed through it anymore, it's fine? I'm talking for the user who doesn't go and buy a Deltec opti made specifically for the DIS.

That's basically what I've been saying but some are saying that it doesn't put out the right signal, some are saying they've got it working (from my understanding). I don't know For us to run coil packs, we have to rig up a crank trigger.
