shortys vs longtubes what are the advantages of both also price wise what can they be had for? Im shooting for 400-500rwhp when im done with the car I will prob do the ai 200cc heads and cam with a strange 12 bolt with 4.10s and it will be run by a 6 speed and a ls1 aluminum drive shaft. alsowas wondering if you guys had any suggestions on how to get to my goal of 400-500rwhp? also i want to keep it streetable
Put it this way, the shortys will hold you back if your shooting for that amount power so they shouldn't even be considered. The cheapest LT's are Pacesetter's you can get them coated for like $275. Also, unless your going to stroke out the motor and go solid roller you wont be able to hit near 500rwhp all motor. I would shoot for around 400- low 400's with stock cubes and that setup. You might be better off setting an ET goal because thats more important than making high numbers on a dyno. Im not too far off from hitting 11's and I only have maybe 315rwhp through my stalled auto, its having the proper setup with suspension, trans etc. that makes it possible.

can yall help me figure out a good way to get into the 10s then without breaking the bank. I already have a set of lca on order and sfc as well im goin to build myslef a double adjustable pan hard bar and lcas later on this summer. I was also wondering what yall thing is good suspension set up ive read through alot of different post and was wondering what yall would suggest once again.
with supercharging 500hp would be possible..but supercharger kits arent cheap. If you go through exoticperformance I believe they will sell you a twin intercooled D1SC with 60# fuel injectors shipped to your house for under 4800..if i remember correctly. But ya if you dont want to break the bank go with a heads/cam package. whats your budget?

X2, I agree with the other guys, the only thing I am not shure about is the price of the LT's, but that is the direction I am looking, I just have to be careful cause I live in California and they DO NOT like LT's on street cars and they require a smog check every 2 yrs to get valid tags, not to mention the "Rolling Smog stations" they have been known to throw up

10's in a street car well, the heads and cam are for sure but i think i would start with the blower and go from there. It will let the car make the power but not be sooooo radical its a pain to drive, but for headers i like the stepped kooks.
No offense here, but when you make a statement like "Im shooting for 400-500rwhp", it shows that you really need to do a LOT more research before you even think about starting with any mods. 400rwhp and 500rwhp are worlds apart and will take radically different setups to achieve.
Its gonna be hard not to break the bank I hate to say. Figure $1000-1500 for a cage, $1000 in suspension, $2000+ for building up the T-56 and a good clutch, $2000-2500 for the rear, $1000 for upgrading the fuel system, $500 for dyno tuning, atleast $7000-8000+ before the motor is even touched. And when its time to build the motor figure a few grand on just building up the bottom end and machine work so its capable of handling the power.

Install is going to be free as either me my dad or cousin will install everthing but i would like to keep the cost under 8k for parts I realy dont mind goin used on most things as this is all goin to be build on a student budget. I was thinkin the rear would eat 2k rite off the bat and the heads an cam if I go that route would eat 2-3k and a used supercharger would run me 1k-3k but after that im left with nothing else to throw at it and I would still be in need of a tune and probable forged internals. the less I can get away spending the happier I would be but performance and cheap rarely go together
shortys dont buy shortys lol!!! and hp is just a number i know plenty of guys with low to mid 300 rwhp that put a whipping on the high hp numbered supercharged mustangs!! lol poor PUSTANGS!!

very true I should probable reconsider it all since i am budgeted but could yall help mem get close to this goal or point me in the rite direction. 8k in parts doesnt seam to unreasonable to run in the 11s atleast my goal is 10's but ill be happy with 11's or realy low 12's even but I wanna push it as far as possible without breakin the 8k by to much and I do not wanna run no2 at all I have a big dislike for it.
The second you run 11's your gonna need a roll bar or cage depending on how fast your going and a clutch to handle the power and the rear plus suspension plus soem other things your gonna need $5,000+ just for that before motor to run 11's safely and properly. Your bottom end will then be a ticking timb bomb if your shifting real high and have alot of power and thats a few grand too, it cant really be done right for an $8000 budget.
