Air Pump Delete Ok So My Cars In The Shop Right Now For A New Opti And The Mechanic (sean Over At Top Gear Motorsports) Wanted To Cut The Lines Running From The Top Of The Exhaust Manifolds Off And Cap Them. He Said This Will Give Me The Check Engine Light. I Was Just Wondering If A Tune The Only Way To Get That Tuned Off So If I Have To Pass Emmisions? And Could Someone Please Explain To Me What The Air Pump Does And What Pros/cons There Are For Taking It Out. I Plan On Getting Lt's Later On Down The Road And Ive Heard That When You Do That You Need It Taken Out Anyway. Please Explain Help Call Me A Noob What Ever Makes You Happy Im Just Uneducaded And Would Like To Semi- Understand Whats Going On.
air pump Thats always one of the first take offs bro, i cant remember it my car through a check engine lite, but when i took mine off when i got long tubes and a mail in tune and some more goodies all at once! the air pump is just for emissions, not sure what it does exactly, but i know u dont need it lol!! If u are worried about the light just leave it on till u get long tubes, then it has to come off regardless. Ur not going to notice a huge gain by taking the pump off anyway untill u get long tubes, it will help but not enough to worry with. But if it was me i would take it off and block the holes like ur friend said, hope i helped u man.

thanks man. thats exactly all i needed to hear. i dont understand why it took someone that long to respond thou. and i do plan on getting LT's soo so that should be cool. and i really dont want a mail order tune, id like to find someone in the phoenix area that can tune it themselves. well either way you answered my question very thourghly thanks!

if you remove the air pump and tubes it will set off a service engine soon light but it can be tuned out very easily. all it does is pump more air into your exhausts at start up to heat up the cats quicker. go ahead and have him remove it. the worst effect it will have is setting off the light
