Smooth Idle cam??

Smooth Idle cam?? Ive decided to go another root on my car. Currently it is getting painted and will look like a factory SS, down to the wheels. I want a custom cam that will give me the most power while keeping a smooth idle. Basically I want a "stock" looking SS with some *****. Is is possible to have a large cam and a smooth idle?
The LPE 211/219 should fit your needs...Its got .533"/.560" lift on a 112lsa and only has a very slight chop...Only enough for folks to think mmmm is there a cam in there? And it works great to 6000 rpm...I ran it in my 383 for years...and it passes MDs emissions...

ABA always recommends that 211/219 LPE cam and I always recommend the Crane 210/224 because we both had very good experiences with these cams. Both have very smooth idles and both make very strong power and perform just as well as bigger cams on mild combo's without all the nasty characteristics.
As far as which one of those is better, just buy the one that you can get cheaper , as you'll never see a performance difference between the two.

I was also thinking of the Crane 227, but was wondering if were possible for a custom cam to be bigger but smooth idle. I mean stock sounding. I was running a GM847 but.........I want that "factory" sleeper look and sound. Im also going to redo the exhaust. Right now I have a 3in X. But im going to use an ORY into a catback (undecied) with SLP CME (a steal at $120).

Im still using my LT's. The idea of the build is: when you look at the car you think its an SS. Under the hood looks stock expect for the bolt-ons everyone does. CAI, TB, LT's. Heads and intake look stock. Crank up the car and a smooth idle will pretty much let everyone know that this is just a bolt-on SS. When infact, 355ci H/C car

Brett Foote I did that with my ls1 car, no lope at all with a secret baby cam and some LE heads. Car had a stock catback on it and electric cutout, slammed to the ground on some y2k's with mt dr's on the rear. It sounded like a stock car with maybe a muffler, wasn't loud at all, just barely louder than stock. It went 11.3's on the motor, lol.

The valvetrain is already in place. Im using Patroit Gold springs (.650 max) with 1.7rr. I have 1.6's on the shelf.

You might want to consider the ZZ3/4 cam which is usually available on ebay as a take-out from a crate motor build-up for $100 or so, including shipping. It's specs iirc are 208/221 112 lsa, .474/.510 using 1.5 rockers. It needs some machining to use in an LT1 engine but nothing any machine shop couldn't do. It cost me $60 to have the work done but others have suggested $20 should do. I haven't installed it yet (car is far from complete) but I doubt it has much of a lope. Can't beat the price.

Like already stated the Crane 227 and LPE 211/219 woudl both be good choices and I think the cc305 wouldn't be too bad either, a little bigger than those cams but on a 114lsa.
