Default Oil Pressure Sensor Help

k well during the task of changing my spark plugs last night, i decided to try to take my oil pressure sensor off (or oil sending unit.. whatever its called), and reached back behind the intake... thought i felt what i was looking for... tried putting my special socket that i got from auto zone around the old unit, and the socket wouldnt go around the old unit... so i was just wondering, am i on the right sensor? the one that i was trying to put it on was sitting at an angle on the drivers side of the car, way back behind the intake
i thought i saw a pic of someone else's when they had their motor out, and i thought sure that it was sitting straight up and down... but this sensor was for sure sitting at about a 45 degree angle pointing out toward the drivers side...
i think maybe the socket i got just wasnt machined very well, but it fits my new sending unit, although it is a very tight fit on that and sometimes has to be lined up perfectly to go on...

If your car is a 1994, it's possible that the oil pressure sensor could be located above the oil filter. But your description does sound like the correct sensor. I'm pretty sure the angle of the sensor could vary based on how the elbow it screws into is mounted to the block.

I'm pretty sure some of the early build 94's had the sensor above the oil filter. And I'm also pretty sure that the sensors are different dependent upon the location.

Look around on www.shbox.com. There may be pics of both sensors. I know there is a pic of the sensor that mounts to the rear of the block.

well now i cant find a special socket that actually fits the sensor right... so i guess i will just have to try to fit a wrench back there... but the question is now, what size wrench does it take to pull it off? or is there a different way to go about it?

i personally find it easier to pop the intake off and go about it that way. a whole lot less cursing and breaking ****. it is easy to crack the sensor if you put weight on it
