Hellz no, work ****'t me over this week so i havnt had any time.. I was going to do iti saturday morning but they wanted me to come in 2 hours early and get off 2 hours early


so anyways i figured, saturday night works..

Who woulda thunk, they kept me my original time out but i got to get to work early. So i decided on some drunken good times saturday night.

Well I am pretty much sold its the opti , i am a horrible mechanic but logic states:

There was a misfire, plug wries melted.

Plug wires changed, misfire gone at idle, still misses higher rpms..

then BAM 5k huge backfire, car startrs one last time kinda sorta and keeps trying to st art


when joe came out to look at it on the side of the road he said the spark looked spirratic and weak.

I know i have fuel, all my fuses are good, ICM was changed with new coil and that didnt do a damn thing

so i figure the two things on the list are PCM and Opti. I figure with my lack of skills it'll take me 3 hours to change optis out. I was going to get joe or justin to do it but i figure i need to learn how to work on this bastard so might as well give it a shot haha..

and if this doestn work i figure pcm or spark plugs got fouled out.

Could have had a Opti come apart. I have had a few do that, hell my old Z ate them for some reason, I enjoyed installing 9 opti's on it, hell I had a opti quick change kit in the car.

Where you located at?? hopefully in the dry since its suppose to rain like hell. What time do you get off work??

lovell road, i got a garage but i gotta get some tires and push the ole boat anchor in there i dont have work tomorrow, i got school until about noon

Um *cough* have you pulled wires to check for spark? lol have you pulled Coil wire to check for spark? Have you replaced the Inginiton Control Module (under the coil)? Is your battery dead? Are your injectors clean/new/upgraded(Accel?) IAC? TPS?

Yes, Yes, Yes, No (fully charged), Yes injectors are 36 lbs in good working condition.

Cracky did mention on the phone that i could of jumped time pretty bad for it to backfire like that so ill put that on my list of thigns to check before i tear down to the opti.

Dont overlook the fuel pressure, going lean will cause a missfire also. Your fuel pressure at key on engine off should be 41 to 47psi, yours is 30. You have 36lbs injectors on top of that with a stock pump. Regardless if your pump is the problem right now or not, putting a 225 in there will make a huge difference on top end. One more suggestion for you, ohm out your injectors, they should all measure in the 12 to 15 ohm range (hopefully they are not spread that far apart), if you have one down low, it will cause the injector driver to turn off = engine dies for a short while until the drivers reset. Good luck man.
