Default Users of Freescan and/or Datamaster in here!

I have downloaded the software and have looked at it and I am having trouble with getting it to transfer over to the laptop. Can someone kinda give me a step by step process to work any of the two? I'm trying to use Freescan first since it is free and use my 20 uses of Datamaster later after i get the hang of it. When I press start the number of bytes sent and received never changes.

When do I start Freescan? When I turn the car on or when the key is on accessory? Also what number does the "MS delay" drop down go to? The numbers range from 1-1500. And when do I press the "force data" button and which option do i use? There is "listen" and "interact". Do I ever use the "diagnostic logging" or "CSV logging" options?

Yea but i don't want to use it till I'm positive I can. After all it is only good for 20 tries until I have to buy it.

They are VERY different programs. If you want something free to help you get familiar with getting the car and laptop communicating try TunerPro it has a nag screen till you send in a modest donation but works just fine.

Freescan while it is great the writter offers it for free isa unstable and unreliable as well as the logs being a hassle to read. It can work, and is great for the price, but Datamaster is a far more useful product. AKMcables has the best licensing fee I know of for it.

I use the program also...new to both. Id like to find a resource that will give what the reading tolerances are, for instance, normal o2 voltage, map, maf, etc....if anyone knows of such thing.

"in freescan when you open it, make sure it is set up for the b/f body 5.7 LT1. The on the same control panel, on the right will be listen and force data. Click on listen. Then on the left click "start". after it counts up to @ 10,000+, go back to force data and hit interact. there ya go." From member SAPPER. I found it in a thread after searching. I followed this guys advice and it worked for me.

I found that little write up too but I still can't get it to work.

Does the car need to be fully started or in "accessory" when it is "listening"? Also what number do you have the "mS Delay" set too?
