Default 3rd gen to 4th gen swap?

I have a built 1992 Z28 but I'm starting to like the look of the newer style camaros a little better but I'd rather not sell it and start over. I picked up a 1995 z28 and I thought about trying to put the setup from my 92 into the 95 and sell the 92 as a roller. From what it looks like the engine and trans ( 406, th350 ) will fit with no modifications. I'm assuming a moser 9" setup for a 3rd gen will bolt right into an lt1 as well? How about driveshaft length ... is that also the same? Is there a problem with the distributor clearing when doing a swap like this because of how the engine sits in the 4the gens? It looks like even exhaust wise it would swap over. I'm assuming shocks and springs probably won't swap?

All driveshafts were the same length from 82-02.

Nice so I guess the only thing that may not work is the distributor or will that clear as well?

Your distributor might be a problem, and you might want to convert to distributorless (coil packs), or see if you can mod yours to accept a crab cap style.

Rears are the same as far as everything bolting up to my knowledge. Rims though have a different offset. I wish I could've used my GTA rims, but they'd stick out more.

Seats, Dive Shafts, Lower Control Arms are all the same 82-92 though. I'm sure there are some more things as well, but that's just off the top of my head.

it will all fit the distributer will be tight and the rearend will be narower then whats in there but the 3rd gen wheel will fit in the back w the 3rd rear end, the fonts wont unless there skinnys or they will stick out. motor and trans wise the crossmember for the trans will change but the drive shaft will remain the headers will have to be for a lt1 4th gen

THe distributor is a bitch. I have alot of my firewall and cowl cut out so its not that bad but if I didnt it would be a royal PITA, A coil pack system would be sweet.

BTW how easy is it to do a DIS on an older setup that uses a rear mount distributor? I assume you'd have to setup a crank trigger, like maybe use [urlhttp://brian-esser.com/?page_id=24]Brian Esser's[/url] setup... His is based around an LT1 though still.

At any rate, props to you for sticking a TPI motor (assumed TPI) into a 4th gen
