Default side pipes *serious*

Looking to see if anyone has side-exit exhaust before the rear tires on their cars. Since I have to do a sniffer test, I want to run duals, but dont want to go under the axle and out the back, so was thinking of a side-exit setup in front of each rear tire. Anyone running this?

I've actually never seen a picture of it or in person but I plan on doing it. I'm going to make my own tips that will be pretty short and wide, like a rectangle coming out and a rearwards angle. I think that's the only way you could pull it off. I think round ones would looke weird and ground clearance would be horrible.

I've seen this before, and yes it looks completely badass but apparently its god-awful expensive for the correct tips and fab work...

They use nascar style boom tubes, like a 3" Standard port then gradually flattens out into a peice that is 1" by about 9" or so... I'll try to find a pic after I finish this damn calculus homework.... I'm gonna try to make my own this summer, buying them are like $800 a set from what I've seen, Search ebay for "boom tubes" I believe, you'll find something...

I have thought about doing this with the oval tubing. I don't hink it would be that hard nor expensve if you used the oval bent tubing.

Its not hard or expensive to do this. Getting the Boom tube in the right position is the hardest part. I plan on doing this soon with a pair of Lowbaks and Boom tubes to finish it off.
If you have any kind of fabrication skills at all you can mock everything up mark where your cuts need to be made and then have the local muffler shop cut and weld and then drag it back home and install it.
I mean with my setup your talking about one bend........how hard can it be?

You're right, its not hard to do this, but it does take some skill to not make it look like ****.
Anyone can slap on some shitty side pipes. But its gonna take something to make it look right and tuck up, and maybe even sound good...

I've seen a couple guys route it up through the floor pan and out the bottom of the rear quarter just behind the doors.

I have a 3" stainless TD system with an X and Edelbrock SDT 304s and side exits...I have no pix, but the exhaust comes out of the mufflers and 180s back to towards the front, then 90s out the sides behind the doors...We back cut the pipes a few inches under the car until we decide on what tips, if any to use...I'll probably go with some Dr. Gas 3" to oval pipes and powdercoat them black to completely exit the car...My Formula has no ground effects so you have to be careful on tip selection of it will look bad...At over 121 mph n/a I don't think the few bends are a restriction...and the sound is awesome without being too loud...

THAT IS SWEET! I'd have to say get a Formula bumper though to fill in the exhaust 'holes'.

The thread about the guy with the lowered corvette that's currently on the front page, there's pics of a Vette with side pipes and custom molded pieces to match the car. Looks nice too, more old school.
