I am interested to know HOW the pores in aluminum dissapate heat better with paint of ANY color clogged in them?

Care to elaborate how the COLOR makes it better?

I say black for the LT1 intake, leave the red for a real LT4 intake.

Black hides dirt, also black looks pimp as hell when you sand the top fins down

powdercoated body color, and polished fins and fuel rails

so if you have a red car, a red manifold... blue car, blue manifold, etc

im thinking of doing mine in a sunset-reddish powdercoat with polished rails/fins

You really don't want to come by our shop then...all our LT1's have ceramic coated intakes, well all but 1 (so about 5 of them) One of the guys also used to run Airborne Coatings, so it being free also was very nice I definitely recommend ceramic though, polishes up nice and bright and helps with heat a good bit.

I did a little reading and while solid info was hard to come by it apears likely that you may have busted me repeating a myth. That'll teach me to listen to those old timers.

I did find references to electronics companies using black heat sinks for better heat disapation, but the only tests I could find for automotive applications proved bare metal to be the best. It seems that paint or any other coating acts as an insulator and traps the heat.

Good catch!

I painted my intake, elbow, and valve covers in Rustoleum "Stainless Steel", with 2 coats of high temp clear. Its held up very well, and looks awesome.

Typically ceramic coating will cost anywhere from 115-150 depending on the source. Anything higher then 150 then look elsewhere. I would recommend airborne coatings, the company has gone to **** but they do have a great ceramic formula so it looks terrific. Some ceramics look different then others since not all are mixed the same. Airborne typically has a great finish with a good bit of aluminum which shines it up

I already have done some stuff in it and I think it looks sweet. Besides, the car is Torch Red so it looks Orange in most lights. My sig and avatar were at 5 o clock on a cloudy day.
