What good does removing the AIR and EGR do? Will you make more power without them, or what? I'm kind of a newb on the more technical stuff on engines and don't really understand what the AIR system and EGR do.

From what I've recently learned is that the air system basically pumps circulated air directly to your catelyst for (emissions regulated) readings. I don't think you will make any more or less power with or wihout the a i r system. I didn't really delete mine, I simply made it all less of an eye sore. It serves no purpose whatsoever for me now because I got rid of my cat.

EGR...I haven't been educated on this one much yet.

Well, I have no cat either, so it must serve no purpose to me either then?

This whole air system only operates at idle. I can hear mine come in and go off while idling. If your cat went to the trash can too, the a.i.r. isn't doing you anything.

Oh yeah, I wondered what I was hearing kick in and out, when I'd let the car sit and warm up. Well, looks like I'd better just do away with the AIR to help clean up the engine bay a little bit. Is it hard to do?

It is a PITA to get to. I replaced mine because my car still has the stock cat. I already have plans to delete it and go LT's with ORY.

If you don't have emissions testing then don't worry about it. It's good for some weight reduction and cleans up the engine bay.

would there be any effect to the cat's if i deleted the AIR system? what is the exact purpose? We have strict emissions over here in germany and i dont think it will matter deleting if it just helps emissions at start up. I've havent seen this on other cars... so is it really needed?

After looking around some, people say that without the AIR system, the cats will clog quicker, with the cooler exhaust running through them, or that's the way it sounds to me.

That's pretty much the consensus. You have the realize that start up is a very rich condition. The AIR pump supplies oxygen to the cat to assist in the combustion process and ensure all the carbon is burnt.

Deleting it depends on what you use the car for. As for me, that ***** gone.

Does anyone have a write up about the complete removal of emissions?

I would need the block off plates for the back of the intake manifold, what stuff do I removed other then that? then I need to block the holes on the headers....

Well like I said earlier, removing mine smoothed out my idle like crazy. As for a write up well you just unbolt the electric pump, remove all the plumbing, plug the exhaust manifold bungs and there you go. Just follow the 3/4" hoses around and you'll know what to remove.

Well the AIR pump weights maybe a lb, and the plumbing about 1/4 lb, the EGR valve about 1/5lb lol It's not a big weight reduction more than a cleaning up of the engine bay.
