The car overheated...pics inside
Don't know if this matters, but I was having the same kind of residue in my car as well. Changed the oil and it kept coming back.
I did some more checking because there just had to be a way moisture was getting in there. I found the problem.
The o-ring that slides on the dipstick was torn and dry-rotted. Since I have changed it, about a month, I have had ZERO water in my oil-catcher (pcv mod) and no more residue on the oil cap or dipstick.
Over the winter my oil catcher would be FULL of water at every gas fill-up, it was very annoying.
But now it is fixed.
Unfortunately now I have a power steering leak. That's going to be a PITA to fix, I can just see it now.

that was just heat soak after you turned the engine off. if you had been driving with the engine that hot i think some of these guys guesses would have held true. i bet you are still getting close to 200* right after you cut the engine off
Some people also call this condensation MAYO as it sometimes has that consistancy and it's normal. +1 on not running just water and purple ice, you should really be running 50/50 antifreeze and water as the antifreeze will help cool it better and also reduce the corrosion as just straight water (even distilled) will corrode the waterpump and internals much much quicker. Just my 2 cents.
