Default Datamaster Dyno

How accurate is datamaster dyno?? I made a couple of runs saturday with the roots setup and it's showing about 350 hp and a lil over 400 on torque. I guess that's decent for a completely bone stock 150,000 mile LT1. That's with 7lbs but I'm gonna go back to 5 lbs and see what it does, I can run alot more timing with 5. 7 lbs is way too sensitive to detonation on the bottom of the rpm range.

My mufflers should be in today, I'll get them put on this week then maybe head to the dyno next week or the week after. I still have some things I wanna change around with the intercooler setup and other small things.

Never heard of that dyno, but the #'s seem about right for the mods.

It is just part of the Datamaster datalogging software. You input some stats on the car and and it figures things out based on rate of acceleration.

haha, cause its not a dyno, just a program.

Anyway I tried that one time with my old car and it seemed like the numbers it gave me were way off. It could have just been an error with the data, but I didn't look at it closely.

You have to be careful about setting the start and stop points right. If you come in during the shift lunge it skews the numbers. Since you have to tell it gear ratios too, you need to set the start and end within one gear. You need accurate tire information, no wheelspin. Set the drivetrain loss to zero so you look at RWHP numbers rather than it trying to correct to flywheel.

A grade in the road and such can affect it too.

In no way a perfect tool, but if you use the same stretch of road and say do second gear pulls to keep the speeds sane it can be useful.

Yeah I did two separate runs in 4th gear from about 3000 up to 6000 rpm and they were both about the same numbers. Also I do the start and stop points only when I'm under 100% throttle. I might try the 0% drivetrain loss and see what it does.
