I have at 4.10 gear now in the rear from having a 6-speed... Well i bought a 3 speed RMVB th-400, The stall will probaly be everybit of 4k-4200K... My ? is will i be able to make it threw the traps without topping out? The motor should pull to 6800-7K But it just has me wondering..? oh i also am running a 28 inch tall tire. Thanks for any input

I used a tire/gear calculator. With your info. 28" tire, 4.10, 1:1 trans. ratio.

Engine Speed (RPM) Speed (MPH)
8000 RPM 162.54 MPH
7500 RPM 152.38 MPH
7000 RPM 142.22 MPH
6500 RPM 132.06 MPH
6000 RPM 121.90 MPH
5500 RPM 111.74 MPH
5000 RPM 101.59 MPH
4500 RPM 91.43 MPH
4000 RPM 81.27 MPH
3500 RPM 71.11 MPH
3000 RPM 60.95 MPH
2500 RPM 50.79 MPH
2000 RPM 40.63 MPH
1500 RPM 30.48 MPH
1000 RPM 20.32 MPH

Probably ought to throw in say 10% converter slip, brining you down to 128mph at 7000rpms.

TH400 is a bad idea for all but a dedicated track car, even then it is not always the best idea. The 4L60E can handle a LOT if built right.

It all depends on your converter slippage. I had the same exact setup and my car toped out a 128.88 MPH on the rev limiter 100 feet before the finish line at 7000 RPMs. This was with a cam only motor and a 150 shot! From your sig you should be making more power than I am and be able to spray the car harder.

As the previous post said you need to account for conveter slippage, but you also have to account for tire growth if you are running a slick. I usually put in 29 for tire size if im running a 28 tall tire. You should see an extra inch of growth above 120MPH.

What kind of converter do you have? I found out that my converter was slipping too much. It was slipping in the 12-13% range. Im going to be going with a different converter this year that should be a little tighter, and allow me to get to the stripe before I hit the rev limiter. Bouncing the stock bottom end off a 7000 RPM rev limiter isnt to smart.

Actually have not ordered one yet... Still in the middle of the build, I was going to call up edge converters and give them all the info and tell me what i need.. i am thinking somewhere around a 4K? but it is hard to say i have no idea how much the car weighs with all the weight reduction we did/ and also have to figure the weight of the cage..

Well i couldn't turn down the deal i got on this tranny so... it is pretty much become a track only car.. My thing was since i was a m6 it would be cheaper and easy to convert to RMVB so i wouldn;t have to worry about re-tuning the PCM and cutting into the harness if i was to go the 4L60E route... But i hope it will be fun to drive at the track and out on sat nights.. Believe it or not i have never owned a auto car so i am a little anixious..
