Default About to start the LT1 need some Help!!!!

So Iam about to start my car, I dont have the water pump on, i just have the timing cover and opti on. I was wondering is it ok to start the car up with out the "Crank Hub" on to see if it will run? Don't know if it will throw it out of balance. Thanks Calvin

I wouldn't recommend it. Out of curiosity why would you not have the pump on and then decide to run it?

I started my car without the water pump or serpentine belt installed, but I did have the balancer mounted. I did it to make sure the water pump drive shaft seal I had just installed wasn't leaking.

If I'm installing a fresh motor into one of my cars I do exactly what you are thinking about doing. No water pump. Maybe I'll have a crank damper on, maybe not. Just start it for a few moments to see how things are.
You can run it for 1 or 2 minutes without going hot.
Not having the damper won't hurt a thing for the short run time, (heck even for a long run time).

sometimes I won't have the tranny under the car and I'll still run the motor for a few moments.
