Default Wow Wtf!

So a guy from Indiana comes to look at my car today....And everything is fine.....I had to replace the throttle cable so I took it for a test drive beforehand. After it was fine, I parked my car, and about 30 min. later I come out, and the thing won't start....AT ALL. Power works, everything works. Tried a different battery, still won't start. I'm absolutely clueless as to why it won't start. Anyone have any ideas? I tried cleaning off the terminals, still didn't do anything.

So what happens when you turn the key to start? Lights come on, chimes, etc. but absolutely nothing? Just a click? What?

Yeah, it just keeps clicking. Radio turns on, car chimes, everything works fine, it just won't go. Tried jumping it, still won't. Tried changing batteries, still won't. I'm stumped. I checked all ignition fuses, all seem to be fine. I checked the coil wire, seems to be fine.

The battery I took out of my Saturn seems to have worked better. It started cranking more, but with the one I had in the car already, it would barely click. It is the stock starter, let me try it and see what happens.

Check for good connections at both ends of the battery cables. If you don't have full contact, especialy at the starter or battery, it won't let enough electrons (amps) thru to crank.

sounds like it could be the starter. or the battery is just garbage, and wont hold a charge. even while jumping it.

Weird because I tried 2 batteries, and wouldn't go with both. The other battery seemed better, but still wouldn't crank over. Could a start just go out just like that? That quickly?

Yeah, starts up just fine. I'm not sure about the cranking amps on the Saturn batteries, but that may have been the problem. The battery right now is running low, headlights won't even pop up. I'm wondering if my alternator is bad and wouldn't charge the battery. Maybe a fuse somewhere? All connections seem fine. Car just clicks now.

start doing voltage drop test's on your cables and then also on the starter. Check the battery cells to see if you have a bad one.

I'm thinking it's a starter solenoid. But how would my battery be drained? Obviously trying to start could kill the starter and the battery, but how all of a sudden? This pisses me off like no other.

My starter in my old truck did the same thing, try hitting it, or if its a stick get some people and help you bump start it.

Autozone etc usually offer a free test of batteries, alternators, etc. Take the easy to get at stuff the first trip. While you're there, ask them if they can test starters.

Good luck -- Gary

So upon further testing...The car has no spark. It tries to crank, but there is no spark coming out from the wires. Obviously it's the Opti. Everything plugged into it is secure, including the coil wire. Maybe the moisture/condensation froze up inside, or maybe it just got wet and it's not cranking. But it's not giving out any spark at all.

If your battery is super low it just might not have enough juice to spark the plugs

I was trying to jump it. Battery is fine. Was doing the spark test with the car being jumped. Nothing. Odds are moisture built up inside the housing after I took it for a drive, and crapped it out. I'm gonna wait a day or 2 for the weather to warm up to see if it changes anything.

You need to jump the positive and solenoid terminals on your starter. If the starter will not engage the flywheel yet will engage if the terminals are jumped then more than likely your ignition switch is worn/bad. Not absolutely positive about this, but if there is little to no contact w/ the ignition switch then your PCM may not be getting getting any signal to engage.
