Default Help me decide what to do with exhaust

Ok, So i'm about to order Pacesetter LT's and ORY, and originally i was going to put on a catback, like maybe a magnaflow.. But I've been thinking it would be way cheaper to just run a 3" straight pipe from the y pipe to a muffler to a turn down right before the axle.

Anyone done this before? (i know people have) if so, how did you like it and what muffler did you use? I'd like it to sound good, but not TOO loud. thanks

Is it overly loud? I want it around the same volume level a normal catback would be, but I guess if i cant get it quiet enough ill just do a catback, I just thought it would be a cheap easy way for an exhaust

yeah dumps before the axle is uncomfortably loud in the cab, and i like my cars loud. just buy a catback, magnaflows are great and cheap enough, save yourself the police attention and headaches.

I'm not wanting it to be like stock quiet, i want it loud. I just dont want it to be so loud that its unbearable and rediculous, you know what i mean? I want it to be mean sounding and stuff, but not so loud that people are like what the hell

i got dumped one chambers on my car and its loud while taking off but u can barely hear it once you get up to about 50 in overdrive. if you ever get tired of it you're only out 50 dollars for a muffler and turndown anyways

honestly i wuld say dont do it. im running a vforce muffler dumped before the rear on stock manifolds adn its LOUD. its wonderful at high rpm and when you wanna cruise in town and be obnoxious but when you just want to get some where and chill and listen to the radio its too much, and this is coming from an 18 yr old. im getting pacesetter lt's with the y pipe and im going to run them like a cat back. its just too loud in the cab. + all of the low tones will rattle your carapart on the inside lol! but like someone else said if you do the dump you wont be out much but i promise you you will probably end up going out the back. good luck

Stock "cat-back" with a e-cutout or a regular cut-out is the way to go!

I would do long tubes to an ORY then a magnaflow. Thats how I'm doing it. I got my magnaflow muffler for 30 bucks and a shop to do from the Y to the muffler for 180.
