IMO it's safer. I don't like a car hovering over me at such heights being supported by jackstands. Removing/installing the motor mount bolt just takes a little finesse is all.

i dont know how the hell you guys held the engine up on the oil pan. i tried it doing the headers and nearly crushed the pan using the floor jack and a 2X4. i saved it just in time.

what about a phone book and no 2X4?

when i did my Lts i had my car probably two feet off the ground, honestly i didnt think it was hard to put them on. Its good to do plugs and wires while your in there cause it sucks doing them once the headers are already on. And as far as taking them off to put the transmission back in. About two weeks ago i rebuilt my transmission and put it in there no problem.

That could work. I always remove one motor mount at a time and jack it up under the bell housing.

yea i need to do my mounts very soon. they look like one of thoes peanut butter sandwiches charlie brown eats after he takes his nervousness out on it in the cartoon
