Easiest way to put headers on.
Put the car as high as you can safely on jackstands and you should be able to install them easily. Good luck.
It's hit or miss depending on the headers. I've dropped the trans on long tube equipped cars with the headers in place a few times, but I've also had to remove headers to drop the trans. I had to grind the bell housing for clearance before I could bolt up the pacesetters on my LT1 car. There is no way I could have stuck the trans in with the headers bolted up.

Go back and read what I said. I don't doubt you the least bit. My point was simply that it doesn't always work. That's why I told the OP in my first post that he MIGHT have problems, not that it couldn't be done. I've saw it happen both ways over the years.
Sprayed_Z & LT1Formula007, think about it LOL. The motor mounts will in no way change the relationship between the headers and transmission.
I had to unhook the passenger side mount, but some people get them to fit with out unhooking any mounts.
I also removed the steering knuckle, alternator, starter, oil dipstick, and spark plugs. Don't forget to unhook the battery before removing the starter and alternator.
Anyways like razor says, remove alternator, dipstick, plugs, starter, and you'll probably have to remove the steering linkage on the driver side, it's a pain in the *** to get off. The higher you jack the car, the easier it is to put the headers in.
I advise doing it from underneath. Tape the header gasket to the header to make it easier on yourself, and make sure you get some good gaskets. Are you hooking up the AIR or EGR? If not, that will make this easier.
Seriously get some double hex bolts like Stage eight locking header bolts. They have (inner) allen head and (outer) hex head which make things easier.
you may also want a box of sparkplug wire hanging around.
