Default LT1 true Ram Air

Ok when I get my tax refund check back, I am going to buy the longtubes, I have an ORY waiting right now. I am also going to put on a true WS6 Ram Air intake box, but I know it will probably not be any performance gain over my elbow + SLP CAI. It looks like I need a top and bottom cover, I have the part number for the bottom cover, but I am seeing 2 different top covers.

I imagine the 2nd one is the true WS6 cover, and i don't have the part number for it, which from looks, I would rather have it. Does anyone have a part number for this airbox? Anyone think there might be a performance gain over the elbow + CAI? Will I need anything else besides the top cover, bottom cover, and filter?

Second pic is a factory Ram Air cover. I don't have a part number unfortunately for ya but hopefully someone else will chime in.

As for the Ram Air Vs. CAI debate....well its just that, a debate. Some people like the Ram Air setup, others swear by CAI's.

Good luck. BTW, I bought a new original cover off ebay and cut out the entire center section to use the expose the entire filter.

Found air cleaner part numbers.. http://www.97ta.com/pn22.html .The top cover will not pull up on GMPartsDirect, so I may just buy the one from SLP.

I cannot ever find one on ebay.. what did you type in for search

Yes, but i'm not 100% how they will make a perfect seal to the hood. It doesn't look like it has the seals around the box like the 2nd pic i posted (factory WS6 box)

I typed in Ram Air LT1 or just LT1 and I do a daily search. I simply stumbled upon it and nabbed it up. Got lucky I guess. If I see anything I'll let you know.

They are pretty hard to come by. I looked for a whole year before i found one on here. You will need to either find or make your own bellows if it does not come with the air box.

If there is an hp gain it is very small.

You put the sealing foam on the hood, not the box.

I have seen one on here and Cz28.com for sale here as of late.

It is basically a CAI setup. Ram Air, by the laws of physics, can only add .18psi at 100mph. It's not until you get up around 200mph that ram air starts meaning something substantial.

Both of those Ram Air boxes are the same. It's just that one has the rubber seal on it and on the other it is missing. I like Ram Air, but as far as a performance increase over the CAI, I don't know. If it's none or only a couple, I would keep my CAI.

How much you want for that Trickflow elbow? I may be interested if I get my Jordans sold on eBay.

Do you have to run the plastic grill-type box on the ram air set ups?

Mine is just the filter, with some foam on the hood.
