LT1 in general?
All bets are off when the heads come off. LT1's can make power too, just like an LSX. We can run the old school heads with some machine work but the fact is we choose not too.
I just can't stand the way the LS1 camaro's look.
Ever see them without a nice hood and/or wheels? :puke:
Also, The interior is generic and feels "cavalier" ish.
I will own an LS1 when I am done with my LT1 but If I find a nice low mile LT1 I wouldn't mind another one.

Ive had a few of each and I just picked up a 94 Formula with a 383 LT4 set up and a supercharger for a daily driver. I would have paid almost twice the price for an LSx combo like this. Thumbs up for the reasonably priced LT1 F-bodies.

See I bought my 00' TA because of the look first, and the engine second because you can always make the LT1 faster than it is stock and spend the same, if not less money. But then again.. there was a reason they switched it to the LS1 and you wont see me complaining haha.
Same situation here. Mines super budget oriented. I already have a money pit LS1 car.
I agree, but if you want the, "biggest stick" why not start with a BBC? Obviously it's a preference thing. People like to make it seem like what they have is better than other things. It's human nature.

And so it has come to this.....It used to be The Camaro Vs. The Ta.....Now its to the LT1 Vs. LS1....You need to stop and look at the big picture.....We are all F-bods and with that you should be attacking mustangs or something. Theres enough rice out there for everyone.
what? are you kidding me the LT1 is a pile of shvt.
haha
I don't understand the aftermarket for the LT1 i mean... once you start messing with head/cam combos you can make just as much power as an LS
we just need more aftermarket head options and engine packages etc..

ya this is what im saying ^^^
I'd take a 383 lt1 with nice heads and cam over a cam/bolton ls1 anyday
The biggest draw back on the LT-1 is not having a bowtie or after market block when shooting for "big power". The conventional sbc and the LS1 have the after market blocks and if you convert a traditional sbc to work with LT1/LT4 heads/intake/cooling is it still an LT1?
When making the decision on my turbo motor the conventional sbc(with a Dart block) took the win-Parts availability and price, The ability to handle high compression and boost without lifting the heads (5 bolts per cylinder), cylinder heads aproaching very good conventional bbc flow #'s.
When making a decision on a street/strip car there are some incredible buys out there on LT1 cars just because of the fact that many consider them over shadowed by their LSx brothers. Next car going into my garage is an LT1 F-body. Here she is.

Had a caprice ever had an lsx motor from the factory, i would have gotten one of them. In my eyes, it seems the only thing the LT1 has is a better sound, i'm not very fond of the LSX exhaust.
Also, our LT1 makes as much power as the SAM car, if it weighed what he does we could go high 8's as well.
Sorry, not trying to be an antagonist, Jud's a good guy and we had to go through a ton more to make the same power, it's way easier to do with the LSx platform, just pointing out...
Considering you can put the most exotic standard sbc heads on a LT1, ie. Little Chiefs, sb2.2, etc, the LT1 has the potential to make more power than the LSX platform. Then it comes down to when is an LT1 no longer an LT1?
