Or go with some nasty SBC heads and convert over to that and your in the same playing feild

I loved my Lt1 but having little after market sucked gm pretty much damed the lt1 by only having a 6 year run. Also it was singled out being only in the car and reverse cooled. the trucks still came with a sb350 vortec. now just about every suv/trucks plus the vette gto new camaro and the gm monaro have lsx base engines. The lsx has taken the place of the sbc and the lt1 has become the forgotten middle child.

The LSx is a few years more advanced...and was a clean-slate design. There is no getting around that. For their efforts, GM powertrain created an awesome lil engine.

That being said, the LTx is a great setup capable of formidable power. It was quite overshadowed by the LS1.

I'm not getting rid of my LS1 TA for any reason...but I may very well be adding an LT1 after deployment.
