My tunnel mounted torque arm fixed it. The stock one pushes up on the tranny tailshaft, which also pushed the the y-pipe closer to the floorboard.

Well think about it. The rear end movement pushes the torque arm upward.. which is attached to the tranny tailshaft. Tranny is solid to the motor, headers are solid to the motor, and y-pipe is solid to the headers. So since everything is rigidly mounted, when the tailshaft goes up, so does the y-pipe.

I didn't say a tunnel mounted TA will push the y-pipe DOWN. But it would eliminate the TA from pushing UP. Now the only movement that could bang the y-pipe would be from the engine torque.

Mine bangs the brace under the drivers side with engine torque...

I took my y-pipe and smashed it a little more 0 shaped and it helped a whole lot, it still does it, but it takes alot more to make it hit.

During spring break I'm gonna yank it back off there and do a little more bending and try to fix it for good, I may even reshape the brace that its hitting.

I thought mine was hitting the torque arm at first, but finally found it was smacking the brace under the drivers seat where it crosses under.

I had to drive mine the next morning after my install and didn't have time to fix it right till that next weekend. So I took a peice of vaccum hose and wrapped it in head shield tape and stuffed it between the brace and the y-pipe till I could get to it later.

I just did poly motor mounts today for my friend. It's not hard. The only hard part would be taking it off the car. The motor was already out for me, so that was easy. Once you do that, just drill the 5 rivets and replace the rubber mount. Simple. I'm actually thinking about doing mine since my motor is out as well.
