Question reman opti spark?

what make the reman opti spark units from oreilly's, autozone, etc. so bad? the only part i can see that may be faultly is the optical sensor. why not just use your factory optical sensor in place of the reman?

Half the reman. ones probably do have factory optical sensors. The problem with them is the fact that they use cheap parts to repair broken opti sparks.

If the optical sensor is ok in a core they get they will just replace whatever is wrong. So your new "re manufactured" opti spark may have parts with over 200k miles or something.

Which makes them not last.

what else is there to go wrong? im not doubting you but, the only thing i can see going bad is the bearing. my car is down right now and i need to get it running by wednesday so i thought a reman would do. i was going to replace just the cap and rotor but the bearing in my opti must be going bad because it is hard to turn and there was debris underneath the metal plates.

Order a GM unit from jegs or summit. Extremely fast shipping and a good price.

I don't trust much stuff on ebay. To many shady sellers.

maybe they changed up the ones they are using then. Some they sold had a clearly non-GM cap (it was black instead of yellow, etc).

I actually have not installed it I did speak with at least a dozen of the folks who had bought the same item and all were extremely happy. A few of them are my comrades on another site and they have been put to and through the test.
As I stated earlier I CANNOT tell a difference between my original Delco and this one at all.

I replaced mine with a brand new black cap opti. The seller told me it was a genuine GM opti, just an off brand cap. Its worked since I've installed it in august of 07 and its holding up great.
