No one said that. He said not to use *stock* heads, since the OP said he was going to use that (as contrasted with ported heads, since asked how much more power ported heads would make). stock heads on a 383 is retarded, that's what was pointed out, unless I'm missing something.

You can get them that initially look cheaper but are "cheaper" in every sense of the word and all said and done will cost more so the most reasonable but still very nice parts kit I like to recommend is the Callies Compstar kit. Imported forgings on the rods and crank machined, heat treated, stress relieved, nitrided by Callies in the USA with Mahle pistons, complete kit bearings balance and all for around $2000-2100. Yes Eagle has a $1800 all forged kit but by the time you rebalance it you will be at basically the same price and the Eagle stuff is lesser quality with know dimensional QC issues.
If you look at the dealers tab you will see some well know names like Advanced Induction and Ellein Engines(Karl posts here).
It batres repeating though that power is in the topend, there are a LOT of heads and cam motors around making more power than a lot of strokers. Many guys who blindly believe "no replacement for displacement" completely miss the need for supporting topend. There was a time when I thought that way, luckily I did not have the money with which to make that mistake.

So if you you install a 383 stroker kit, can you not put aftermaket heads and a cam in your car? Or is that part of the kit, confused.
Hp difference between stock and a stroker kit for 2100$$!?

You can put aftermarket heads on BUT they are not the upgrade people assume they are. There are no aftermarket heads that as cast or factory CNC'd I would compare favorably to ported stock heads. Even max effort ported stock heads come out looking very good compared to aftermarket castings.
Trust me I have run against strokers built on money instead of research, and my little 350 came out looking good.

I do think the cnc AFR head will make more power than a max effort stock head. Just my 2 cents. But very few have put the right combo together with the cnc AFR to make power.
