Default pick up tube diameter

i have a moroso 20185 and the stock pick up doesnt work. the pick ups required for that pan are 24213 (hv pumps) and 24212 (stock volume). i bought the stock volume thinking thats what i needed since i just bought a stock replacement from the chevy dealer. the stock volume pick up is 5/8 and the pump is a 3/4. called summit and a local speed shop and they said the hv pick up is a 3/4 and it will work. ive bought two 24213's so far and they are 5/8 . mind you im a little upset since this little tube is holding up the motor install. would simply switching to a 5/8 pump make a difference in oiling? that seems to be the easy way but i dont see what the difference can be in the two pick ups if they are both the same od. i believe the support brackets are slightly different and thats all i recall. any help would be appreciated.

can anyone confirm the stock pick up size? just not sure if there would be enough difference in oil flow with the smaller tube to make this even worth the hassle. cant believe this insanely simple part is killing me as much as it is. maybe the good lord will help me out today if hes not tinkering with the ls motors

The stock one is 3/4 I have this problem every time I order a pump for my LT1. I also heard that The high volume pumps can cause the oil pump drive gear to strip.

thats what i thought the stock size was. at least now i know for sure. those that are running this pan what size did you use? switch to the smaller pump or do they actually make a 3/4 pick up for this tube? i cant find sizes for any of the pick ups on anybodys site, even moroso.

I just put a mellings select pump 10554 with the 10 percent higher volume, canton 3/4 inch pickup, with the canton pan, it was a little expensive, but a nice set up. A mellings pickup for the 155 S or HV I think would work on your pump, it is press fit and 3/4 in diameter

how tight is the bend on that pickup? i bought a mellings 3/4, not sure the p/n, and the problem is with the way the pan is designed it will not go down in the sump. it hits the built in tray. the mellings i bought was the same size as the stock pick up.

i called moroso this morning and they said they do not make a 3/4" pick up for that pan and it would have to be custom made. asked them about the difference in oil flow from switching to a smaller 5/8 pump and he said it "should" be ok but would be pushing it. anybody running a 5/8 pump with decent power or any light to shine on this problem?
