Default Front oil galley plug ?s

I did a search and didn't come up with anything but I thought I remembered somewhere that two of the front oil galley plugs are supposed to have like a .030 hole in them for oiling purposes. Anybody know? I tapped mine and the last engine I put solid plugs in with no issues I just wanted to verify. Thanks

i do believe the holes are required to help oil the water pump drive gear, but if you have gone to electric and the gears are no longer there i would imagine you could be by with not having them

but they also help lube the chain

what

the OP i believe is speaking about the small oil gallery plugs (3 of them) on the front of the motor, and is asking whether or not holes should be drilled in them

Yes 1994 is correct. Does anyone know the exact size the hole should be? I have never run an electric water pump so I guess on the last engine I got lucky but I don't want to chance it.

Unless I am mistaken I thought he was referring to the front ones in the lifter galley to where the oil returns back through the pan. It is common to block off the middle ones and leave the front and rears open.

Ahh, I understand where you are talking Gator and I see the missunderstanding but I am referring to the location under the timing cover behind the cam sprocket that usually has "freeze plugs" I always tap them and put a pipe plug in its spot but my concern is there should be a hole in them.

It doesn't HAVE to be there, but like said earlier, it helps oil the waterpump gear and should be .030".

Ok lol now we are on the same page. I have seen them both ways. I like to leave mine with .030 that ensures some oiling. Better to have some than none in my opinion
