Better tuning software. Better heads. Lower compression. A few reasons.
Definitly will be turbo'n the new gen 3.
I planned on building the LT1 for boost, but going to this will cost about the same. My truck and car will have the same setup also (and use the same software).
And im bored and wanted to try it. I never really have any good reason for the money I waste. Lol. Just do i and hope the girlfriend don't freak out too much.
Im also going full manual valve body 3 speed auto with a brake. I want 10's at least.
You need a turbo, wastegate, and whatever you decide for cold side.
Then tuning is your choice. Ignition box pulling timing and a fmu, or injectors and a good tune (always the better route).
Believe me, you could spend 7k on a turbo setup, and the first time you feel the boost come in its ALL worth it! But yoy dont have to spend all that much. I've done the hard part. The easy part is left for you to decide what you want to do. Im always willing to help too
