Default More weight reduction pics and carnage

1994 TA Started out at 3680# when I bought it 6+ years ago, did the usual fiberglass hood, carpet insulation!,, stereo!, spare!, oil cooler, etc, etc. Last year weighed in at 3340# with half tank, pulled swaybar and 1/4tank it should be at 3300#. Started major weight reduction plan last week and managed to pull 226# more out of her. All interior except door panels, dash, console, and two racing buckets are all thats left inside. Pulled AC/heater, condensor, all tubing and HVAC box, put in delete plate. Relocated battery, washer fluid bottle!, ABS!, pulled dash ripped out all un-needed insulation heater vents and motor. This should put her at 3300-226=3070's# shooting for 3000# when finished. After all of this the car looks like it ready to go 4-wheeling. Ive been inspired by shon herron and john P. to do this to my car since its mainly a toy and I love the times there running all bolton.

lol i'm trying to do the exact opposite. go as fast as possible with a stock interior. trying to give it the "its just another camaro" vibe whenever its parked in the street. however the roll bars i'll be putting in the future will definitely ruin that. good lucking getting that weight down.

Yeah my car is definitly no sleeper, always tell them it has a rotted off muffler and burnt plug wire if they dont know me.

Yeah my car gets that reaction with its homley black nasty looking C4 rims and older slightly chipped paint, black suit from the exhaust all over it. There not laughing after we run though.

I can show you a lot of little tricks you can do with little things that really add up if you're interested. Hopefully mine will be right around a 3000-3100lb with full interior panels, ac, ps, 10 point cage, and the turbo setup.

Should make a post in the appearance section about applying a lift kit to your fbody. hehe..

what about bumper support? heard that it free's some weight although, you'll have to rig something to stop the sagging then. so whats next?

I will finish pulling bumper supports once I get this part of the project knocked out. Also had to cut out and reweld a new lower radaitor brace since the stocker was a rotted pile. Should be a couple pounds just from that.

I would like to see what little tricks he has to show us to move more weight out. See if I missed anything little, it all adds up every ounce. Im to the point im going to start shaving seat brackets, seat belt brackets, wire loom tabs, anything extra thats not needed. So if there is some hidden weight im all for it.

It would love an LS1 swap but I already have another 96Z to play with and two sets of 94 heads, and another 4 bolt main LT1 long block that needs some love. I messed up big time and sold my LS6 454 for dirt cheap, that would have been nice in there now that I dumped everything under the hood and have room.
I LOVE MY LT1 after all the 6 1/2 years of knuckle pain she's put me through. Jaw hurts everytime after I drive it from the awestruck deer in the headlights look on my face after every spirited run.
