Default Bad opti??

The car is running like a tractor, I checked for burt wire and none other than the one I burned last year but it still ran fine. I taped up the wire and have heat sleaves on prblem areas, like I said I did tape up the one bad wire last year and it ran fine. I have just installed a msd digital 6 box and msd coil but when I did the install I did the coil first and started to test and even drove it to check it out to eliminate problems in case of a problem so I wouldn't have to guess. I did the same with the box to rule out the box being a problem.

So now since it has started running bad I have unhooked the box and that did not fix the problem, I have not put the stock coil in but I guess I could try that next. The car idles bad and wants to die but if I hold the idle up it seems to run fine. When
I built the motor the only two things I didn't replace were the starter and opti, well I also kept the stock o2's.

If anyone has a sugestion on were to find a opti for a good price shoot it my way but any opinions on this isue will help a great deal, I don't want to chase the problem with waisting money on un needed parts! The motor is a 383 with 42# injectors, custom cam, lone tubes, ect.

Also I forgot, I used a 1/2 (100 oct)as on a ride the only took a quarter before (93oct.) The car was misssing realy bad when at a cruze speed.

I have gone over all the wires already and they are all corect in firing order and all snug on the plugs.

I've heard of MSD ignition boxes destroying Opti's. I know several people who have installed them, and removed them (and had to replace Opti).

Is your SES light on? if so, have you scanned it?

In this month's Summit Racing Catalogue, they're selling complete Opti's (summit brand) for $250 or so. By the looks of them, they're made by Accel, given that they've got the same properties, I would assume that Accel makes them. Pretty sick deal, and their shipping is fast too. Of course, you could use an MSD for $515.

I have not scanned it yet but yes ses light has been on since the new motor has been running. I guess that would be a good place to start! Somtime I overlook the easiest things. To add to my car spec info I do have a mad Z tune I'm trying to get this thing running tight so I can get it dyno tuned so I can spry this pig.
