Default Changing to Auto? what the best setup

I have been thinking about ditching the m6 and goin with an auto... i was wondering if anyone of you guys have done this.. and what trannys are you running... i love my street machine but im ready for some real numbers... so what better than an auto with a trans brake and some nitrous.. so just give me some ideas.
maybe turbo 400
maybe turbo 350
and what could i do with maybe a 4l60
thanks

You SHOULD already have a 4L60 (700R4), unless you knew that. You can do a bunch with them in the hands of a good builder.

4L60(NON-E) 700R4 is a bolt in and uses same drive shaft

We have converted a car or two from a six speed to a 4L60 and it is alot of work there is no question of that.

BUT it is a bolt in

Do they make trans brakes for the 4l60?

I'd go turbo 400

Go with a nice built 4L60E. Going by the mods in your sig...at least a 3600 stall. You might even go as high as a 4000.

alright so it looks like the best way is the 4l60.. but i know the 10 bolt wont live... i plan on killing it as soon as i put my BFGs on..i should have changed it ALONG time ago but i love m6.. but the ol' LT1 loves clutches. you think they could have done something different with the tranny set up so it would handle some power shifts with nitrous like an ls1...
but thanks for the help... also on the 4l60 would i have to change the tranny cross member and torque arm or do they use the same set up
thanks

Get you one of the UMI Performance Adjustable Torque Arms with the Tunnel Brace Mount.. they work very well.

The Cross Member bolts up into the same spot with the A4 and the M6.

I'm running a well built 4L60E in my setup, with Auburn Pro Series 7.5" Posi Differential, Motive 3.73's. and a Yank SS3600 Stall. I got it to cut 1.563 60ft's without any problems.

Guys have taken 4L60Es into the 9s, with your 93 you might want to stay 4L60 (no E) unless you take the opportunity to go to a MAF system like the 94+ cars than the computer can handle the "E" tranny. Allows a great launch with the deep first and the lockup allows lots of stall to still be drivable, then the OD means you can go deep on the rearend gears too. Probably pick rearend gears based on being pretty well out of rev at the end of the quarter in 3rd.

The auto will serve to help the 7.5" live too.

Trick is to find someone GOOD to either build the tranny or walk you through it. LOTS of shops claim to be capable but are not. This is a tranny where the assembler means more than the parts, a good assembler can make a lot of very stock parts last and most shops can make the latest in HD parts give up in a few hundred miles. I do not say this to discourage you just as a heads up. If there is a local shop that can do it and you can VERUFY that by talking to customers with the same tranny in a similar application that would be great.

FLT is a sponsor here listed on the right side of the screen, they are good, Rossler is good, ProBuilt Automatics is who I use and am happy and he is also happy to sell you parts and walk you through how to build it. These are about the only shops I am confortable recommending. As you research more also look for TIME in cars, lots of shops build trannies that hit hard and customers are happy for awhile, then in a year they break. Seen many companies come in become the new fad and 6 months to a year later it all comes crashing down because they never had a clue.
