whats up with this?
car:95 lt1 6speed
problem:car has 160 t-stat and ewp and runs hot around town past 210 only around town, took the car on 20 mile highway jog at 70mph and it runs between 160 and 190. I just changed to ewp and brand new opti w/160 t-stat. Whats going on here? My car is 13years old; are the stock dual cat(yes dual cats w/OBD 1 computer) clogged or is the problem cooling only?
some one with personnel experience please comment
the ewp is a summit electric pump that was on sale and brand spankin new

CSR ewp here with a 160* failsafe and mine never gets above 180*, even ideling around town in 90* heat. I'm also running about 11.5 compression too on a .30 overbore. Your car shouln't be running that hot IMHO
When I bought my car, some idiot had taken the air dam off before. The car ran so hot, even on the highway ~210 in mid summer sometimes. Bought one on ebay for like $10. Temps have been perfect since pretty much. I stay right around 180 cruising.

As Snackeoiler said, it's normal operation stock fans don't cut on till around 235* so the 160 t-stat only works when running cool air through the air dam to rad at higher speed. You need programming or a fan switch to take advantage of the lower t-stat in traffic. Putting on the air conditioner will force low speed fans to run and cool it down a little.
How do you have your ewp wired? With a relay? or what? if a relay how did you wire it to turn off and on?
Need to get your computer tuned for the fans if you haven't already done so. I run Meziere and a 160 with stock radiator and it stays @170 and may get up to 185 here in Texas on a hot summer day. Never over 200.
