Idle Problems

Idle Problems Has anyone else had problems with there car running fine at start-up and then once you get on the throttle the rpm's shoot up to about 3 grand and takes a couple of seconds to drops down and slows only to 1200 rpm?

Well, I've pulled out the IAC and cleaned it good. Still no joy. Do you guys think it it could be the TPS? Tried doing research on here and found that most of the guys with problems are modded quite a bit.

$40 for the TPS O_O What happened to like $8!? Hell I'd just switch to the old Flat4 style then >_>
Anyways, idle should be 600-800rpms. So might want to check those hard plastic lines for a vacuum leak as well, along with everything else. PCV, IAC, IAT, TPS and maybe if the EGR is stuck open a bit (not sure if that'd cause it though)

Sounds good. Yeah she still stock. I've only ported and polished the stock MAF and that was a while ago and it ran fine before. I've also checked for vacuum leaks and can't find any.

Well, if I remember how carbs work, doesn't lean mix make the motor run at a bit higher RPM? So if it's only stuck slightly open, and not wide, it might affect it.
BTW, not sure if your motor has 2, and how much it matters, but my 93 had a PCV in the pass VC as well as the normal one in the intake Driver side.

Well no joy on the TPS and PCV. Driving down the road and the car just cutoff like someone pulled the power from the ignition circuit. Car will start, but will only run for a little while before dying. Any ideas??????

Damn :\ I've ran into your same problem before and it was my ground on the battery 
Guess I'd check the cables at the starter too just to make sure, and the ground to the body.

I'm away from home till Sunday, but when I get home I'll pull both battery cables and check the for breaks or corrosion. I guess the car being 11 years old could use some new cables anyways. Thanks for the insight, most of the time it's the simple things that make the biggest differences.
