Default Gears

Did the f-bodies come factory with a 3.73? I am running around 1800 at 70 in 6th gear on 315/35r17s or 275/40r17 same height tire. According to a gear calculator on the internet using the Camaros tranny gear ratios that is a 3.73? I have yet to pull the diff cover I was just curious.

That was the only gear options? What rpm do you turn in 6th gear with 3.42s at 70?

2.73s for the V6 and unlucky few V8 ppl heh In 6th, it's something like 5rpms LOL

Honestly it's 71mph = 1600rpm.

then someone has done a gear swap in it. the 4.10s are nice, but can result in some very slow 60ft times if your not careful.

4.10s react very well to the M6s.

Transam98: In 93 they were, but that was a different geared/make M6 too. Much higher 1st gear (that gear link shows you).

Really? I figured they would help? This thing doesn't have anything on my old fox...granted it ran 11's but even when it was stock and had 3.73s it had alot more pull then my camaro...I don't know if its the m6 that does it or what...I know when I went to 4.10s in my fox my 60 ft times dropped drammatically...

Since I don't drag, I can't give good ideas, but if you know how to really rip through a manual and shift right (as well as a good clutch) then you should get a good time. Since you have DRs you should have fairly well 60'.

Just be very aware: M6s + DRs = broken 10bolt rears, so don't launch too hard.

1/8th mile id guess in the 8's if it hooks decent, and 9's if you spin off the line. the reason your fox seemed snappier is because the car was a lot lighter than your camaro is.

Buying modded cars is a gamble, lot more guys screwing cars up than doing them well, you might find that a STOCK f-body pulls better than yours.

If you want to check your RPO, GU5 is 3.23 and GU6 is 3.42 (but M6 only). One would assume GU4 is 2.73.

Yea maybe a stock one I don't know...I mean it is quick...I am just biased because that car went low 11's and this is at best high 13's....Also I haven't had that car in 2 years so I could also be building it up and making it seem more than it was...You know how that goes...I know that car would roast them through 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and chirp them in to fifth on street tires on the street. This camaro will spin through 1st and chirp into second thats it. I guess I need to compare apples to apples...not apples to oranges. My buddy that went with me in his lightly modded fox ( b cam, headers, etc) went 9.9's to 10.7's. so...I am pleased there.
