I have 3.73's in my auto and absolutely love them but if i had a 6sp i would go 4.10's. You'll be extremely pleased with both but you'll see a bigger gain with the 4.10's

if you live near houston you should check out MTI. they did all the work on my hawk and are the best there is. you shouldnt drop more than 800 to 1k for a full gear swap. id also recommend an axle girdle when you do it too. just a lil extra to help keep the rear together.

holy **** it costs 800-1k to do a gear swap?!!

gears: 220 (average)
install kit: 100 (average)
so that means labor: 480-680

damn im glad i do my own work.

believe mine costed round 700 total, but now that im adding my rear axle girdle thats an additional 200 and another 100 to have it installed. if you go all out then yeah. but well worth it if you have someone who knows what they are doing do it. gears will make the difference between walking and running.

4:10's all the way. I bought a brand new set of gears off a fellow member with the install kit, pulled the rear and set up the new gears. Less than 300 invested total ......FYI, it makes a HUGE difference going from a 3:42 to the 4:10's, but you wont regret it.

Richmond 4.10s

$200 for gears, $250 for install. No install kit.

That was 7 years ago, still works great. Several 1.8 60' on DRs too.

The Richmonds have straighter cut teeth, which make a little noise at highway speeds. I'll take a little howling if it means I get a stronger design. Its nothing I can hear over my exhaust anyway.

Ok so I can't just buy the gears and have them put it in? I have to buy the install kit as well? What is the install kit? My bad about the question but I have no clue when it comes to gears and such like that

I would recommend you go with an install kit so you have new bearings and whatnot in there. Go to summit and search for gear install kits made by Ratech for GM 7.5" 10 bolt. If it were me I would buy the gears, install kit, then have your installer do the install. Keep in mind you will also have to pay for fluids.

Here is the kit I purchased:

Motive gears are a little cheaper and work great. I installed quite a few sets and they all worked out well with little noise. As far as the install kit you may or may not need it. I would just replace bearings and seals as needed. At least get the pinion bearing and seal since 10 bolts go through them quickly.
