Default Stock Head Bolts? HELP!

Are the stock HEAD bolts (not header) torque to yield bolts and, if so, do I really need to replace them? If they do need to be replaced, which ones should I use, and should I go with studs or bolts? (If I can save this expense, I would much prefer to do so, but I'd rather do it right and spend a few extra bucks now than have something **** up and spend a lot more later.)

I am fixing a blown head gasket and since I had to break the motor down I have replaced some bad parts and purchased some new parts. This is what I'll be running when it's all said and done in case it helps:

Comp Cams 306
Comp Cams Springs
BBK headers
SLP cat back exhaust
new water pump
new Delco opti
SLP Airfoil

Pickup some stage 8 locking bolts, you wont look back.

Just torque em down as normal, not sure on the actual torque numbers for em from GM....

x2 on mr. fixxer. stage 8s are badass but if you choose to, you can reuse the bolts.

if you get pacesetter headers i think they even come with new bolts so there you go.

lol ok HEAD bolts. yeah those are definitely torque-to-yield and yes you need to replace them. studs arent necessary, you can get a new set of ARP bolts from thunder as well, less than 70 bones:

Yeah, this is for the LT1. No problems with the LS1... knock on wood!

I'll get some pics posted when I get the LT1 back together.

The only problem you will have with the LS is when the LT starts beating it!

Considering you just dove in the LTs engine, will the LS be getting a cam or some other goodies perchance? You know, just to keep everyone happy. (I assume they have to share a garage togeather).

They park right next to one another and the LS has been laughing for a year and a half now, because that was the last time the LT was started. :crying: However, no cam for the LS because I will be selling her once I get the LT up and running so I can buy a family oriented car. (Two kids, two Firehawks and a wife don't make for a good marriage.)

BTW, any idea what I can get for a 99 Hawk with 49K miles on it and all the add ons listed below, or know where a good place to find that out would be? Here she is: (I'll have to pics of the two of them together later this week!)

I wish I had some cash to throw around this season, but Im in the market for a 2500/3500 chevy/dodge for plowing many accounts this coming winter. If I did not have to buy a better suited work rig, then there could be a chance Id be interested in giving it a good home (Had my 99 TA before, next car will definitely be an LS1 Hawk so I can fondle both Hawks).

Not sure on the prices, but they fetch more than the TAs do these days....sometimes by more than a little bit (as they should). Id say check some for sale threads or autotrader to see what people are ACTUALLY getting.

Thanks for the offer, but I am hoping to get more than that. I don't know if I can or not, but I'd like to.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm not sure what for sale threads there are; I've only sold one car and that was a trade-in of my '89 Firebird for my '95 Hawk , but I'll definitely check out autotrader!

On this site in the For Sale section you will see "Vehicle Classifieds"........

Check back there every once and awhile, Hawks float by from time to time.
