got some codes and need some input (16,41,42)

Default got some codes and need some input (16,41,42)

Well i was driving the other day and i got on it and the car felt ok. but when i let off the car shut off on me but it started back up. but like 30 seconds later it shut off on me again and would not restart it would just crank, Well when i get the car home i hade code 16 (low res pulse) 41 and 42 (ignition control modual) my question is witch one is my problem the opti or the ignition control modual?

When I get those it is usually an opti maybe it wont be yours

Funny that you mention this. Saturday I was going down the road and my car just shut off... wouldn't start back.

Throwing the same exact codes!

i wonder if it is the opti or the ignition control modual.

I changed out a coil and ignition control module and it's still doing it.

So did you test the ICM or the opti? Get a multimeter.

if at all possible i would find a gm service manual for those codes and follow the flow charts in them i had a code 42 in my vette and it was a wiring issue never would have found it if i didnt follow those charts. good luck

Well, I would say that if your throwing a code 42 you'd check the icm first with a multimeter and if your getting good readings off that then trace the wiring. If the opti is throwing the code 16 then I'd check the wiring first since it's easier to do and if all else fails pull the opti out.
